T odo indica que el Vaticano debería contratar a un médico brujo para que haga un sahumerio en sus dependencias, pues todo lo que declara en el último tiempo se le vuelve en contra. Ahora la liebre saltó de donde menos se pensaba: de labios del pacífico ex Beatle Ringo Starr.

Los hechos.

El pasado fin de semana, “L’Osservatore Romano”, diario del Vaticano, decidió absolver a los melenudos de Liverpool. “¿Qué habría sido de la música pop sin los Beatles?”, publicó en un artículo que parecía perdonar las ofensas y blasfemias de la banda.

Ayer, Ringo Starr respondió que no necesitaban tal perdón.

“¿No dijo el Vaticano que éramos satánicos o posiblemente satánicos? ¿Y aún así nos perdonan? Creo que el Vaticano tiene más cosas de qué hablar que de los Beatles”, dijo el célebre baterista a la cadena CNN, en aparente alusión a la polémica en que se ve inmersa la Iglesia católica por los casos de abusos a menores por parte de sacerdotes.

El Vaticano se picó y en su edición de este miércoles reprodujo un artículo de 1966 sobre John Lennon y se repasan las polémicas palabras del beatle asesinado, especialmente cuando declaró que eran “más populares que Cristo”. El artículo recordó que Lennon se disculpó posteriormente por sus comentarios y que Paul McCartney lo reprendió por ellos.
